92 Kilikanoon 2011 Clare Valley Mort’s Block Watervale Riesling
This grows on 40-year-old vines planted by winemaker Kevin Mitchell’s father, Mort. The Leasingham site, on limestone subsoil, produces a riesling layered with floral scents, earthy rye, lime pith and pulp along with something spicy. It’s supple while sustaining a beam of youthful acidity, needing several years of bottle age to mellow. – Joshua Greene
