Old Bridge Cellars is pleased to announce its expansion into Chile through its partnership with VIA Wines. As of July 2, 2013, Old Bridge Cellars undertakes all US sales and marketing activities for the company’s three brands – Chilcas, Oveja Negra and Chilensis – which join the established portfolio of artisanal, family wineries.
The name ‘VIA,’ Latin for ‘the way,’ was selected to articulate a vision anchored in tradition, but open to the future. VIA Wines strives to craft innovative wines of the highest quality, reflective of the terroir of their distinct vineyard sites. Today, VIA Wines owns more than 2,500 acres of vineyards in Maule, Colchagua and Casablanca valleys. VIA Wines is only the third winery to be certified sustainable under Wines of Chile’s Sustainability program.
“As we continue to expand our portfolio into established global wine regions, Chile is appealing when it comes to the quality to price ratio,” said Rob Buono, President, Old Bridge Cellars. “We’re consistently looking for wines that are both well-made and over-deliver, while holding true to their individual appellations.”
Chilcas are wines with a sense of place. The Reserva tier (SRP $11.99) offers single varietal expressions, while the Single Vineyard tier (SRP $18.99) focuses on single vineyard sourcing. The Icons (SRP $34.99-49.99) are the finest expressions of Maule Valley fruit.
Oveja Negra Reserva wines (SRP $10.99) are modern with character and personality, or the ‘Black Sheep’ of the bunch – think white wine made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Carmenere. There is also a Single Vineyard tier (SRP $16.99) made from single varietals that thrive in the Maule Valley, such as Carignan.
Chilensis is the true reflection of Chile’s diverse winemaking regions, wines that establish the country as a “viticultural paradise.” The Reservas (SRP $9.99) offer single varietal expressions from VIA’s various estates.
“Each of our brands has a unique identity, backed by its own winemaking team, resulting in a unique style for each; yet, all share our commitment to quality and sustainability,” said Santiago Cilley, Commercial Director, VIA Wines. “We’re excited to be working with Old Bridge Cellars to broaden our presence and continue our growth in the US.”
