Vanya Cullen, Cullen Wines
Wilyabrup & Margaret River, Western Australia
Vanya Cullen is one of the world’s premier organic and biodynamic vintners by many measures. Her rigorous experimentation in the vineyard and in the winery does not overshadow her drive for greater complexity in her wines: her 2020 vintage of Vanya Cabernet Sauvignon reached 98 pts from James Suckling. Cullen Wines has achieved carbon-positive certification, and Vanya won both Winemaker of the Year (2020) and Viticulturist of the Year (2022) from Halliday Wine Companion.

Kate Goodman, Penley.
Coonawarra, South Australia
When fourth-generation winemakers Ang and Bec Tolley took over the family winery, Penley Estate, they overhauled the brand and rethought their winemaking approach. Key to this was hiring Kate Goodman, who brought a fresh vision to the classic region of Coonawarra. According to critic Max Allen, there is “a compelling sense of revival, an energy and vibrancy to the wines …. taking Penley to another level.” Penley’s Phoenix Cabernet is making news – with an SRP of $21, this wine delivers 90+ points and now in a lighter, more environmentally future-friendly bottle.

Reveals spiced plum, cassis and kirsch flavors that are plump and velvety, with a long finish.” – 93 pts, Wine Spectator

Sandra de Pury, Yeringberg
Yarra Valley, Victoria
Sandra is the fourth generation to manage Yeringberg, and brings to her winemaking and management endeavors a determination to preserve the family estate. Using her wide range of international experience, including chefing, hotel management and an MBA , her mastery of Yeringberg’s range is evident in both critical acclaim and sold-out vintages. Now, with her brother who manages the estate, Yeringberg boasts 98-point scores on their namesake Cabernet blend, as well as plantings, solar, and sheep management to maintain sustainability.

This could cellar for several years, but it seems pointless to do so when it’s showing so deliciously now.” – Editors’ Choice, Wine Enthusiast

Emily McNally, Jasper Hill
Heathcote, Victoria
In 2020, Emily Laughton McNally, with her husband Nick, assumed the helm of iconic Jasper Hill, the family farm and winery known for its low-intervention traditions. Working by her father’s side since 2001, her own label, Occam’s Razor Shiraz achieved remarkable acclaim in 2018 with a Wine Spectator “Top 100” wine nod. She now lives on Georgia’s Paddock vineyard, and the farm continues on with organic and biodynamic practices, and creating benchmark estate-grown wines.

Lolly Krajewski, Clos Cantenac and Chateau Seraphine
Bordeaux, France
Charlotte “Lolly” Krajewski has her degree in viticulture and oenology, and her experience in winemaking spans the globe. In 2017, she began responsibilities at Chateau Séraphine in Pomerol, and Clos Cantenac in St. Emilion. After the first vintage, she was termed “A rising star in Pomerol” by Jane Anson of Decanter magazine. She innovated a sell-out rosé “L’Exuberance” from Clos Cantenac, and is now the Technical Director and Chief Winemaker at both properties. Acknowledged as producing “pure, vibrant wines” with sustainable practices that reflect their terroir, we look forward to more from Lolly’s influence on Bordeaux.

This is worth seeking out.” -Vinous

Simone Horgan-Furlong, Leeuwin Estate
Margaret River, Western Australia
Leeuwin Estate evolved into its current vineyard estate in the 1970s, under the direction of owners Denis and Tricia Horgan, with Robert Mondavi acting as consultant and mentor. The Estate was thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter magazine awarded their highest recommendation to the 1980 Art Series Chardonnay. Now under the direction of daughter Simone Horgan-Furlong and two generations of the founding family, the Estate is recognized as one of Australia’s leading wine producers and wine tourism pioneers. Featured three times in the prestigious category of “International Winery of the Year” by Wine & Spirits magazine, Leeuwin Estate wines consistently rank alongside the world’s finest.
