About
Founded in 1985 by the Gorsuch Family in Yountville, in the heart of Napa Valley, Goosecross is now owned by Christi and Dave Ficeli. Goosecross is known for producing high-quality wines and providing excellent customer experiences to visitors of their modern tasting room overlooking their vineyards. The Goosecross team stays focused on the basics – sustainable farming, attention, care, and diligence in the cellar, and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Goosecross wines were only available direct to consumers until 2022 when the Ficeli family trusted OBC to represent their wines throughout the USA.

Since 2014, Bill Nancarrow has been making wines for Goosecross. Prior to that, the NZ native made Duckhorn wines for over 10 years. From his meticulous selection of vineyard sites to cooperage decisions, Bill continues his legacy of producing some of the greatest wines in Napa Valley. Eleven acres of vines surround the winery, planted on diverse soils – gravel, clay loam and ancient coastal deposits. This site traditionally sees an extended growing season that delivers wines of finesse and balance connected by vibrant, energetic tannins. Each grape varietal is typically picked, fermented, and aged separately in French oak barrels. After the wine meets a level of maturity, an extensive and judicious blending trial occurs to create a complex and sophisticated wine that will then age for an additional period giving the different lots the chance to meld together as one.
Viticulture
Goosecross sits on State Lane in the heart of Yountville, with 11 acres of vineyards surrounding the winery. The property has diverse soils of gravel, clay loam and ancient coastal deposits, the result of a centuries-old alluvial fan. This soil composition is ideal for the varietals planted here: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Located between the warmer up-valley climate and the cooling maritime influence of the San Francisco Bay to the south, State Lane Vineyard traditionally sees an extended growing season ensuring wines that offer finesse and balance connected by vibrant, energetic tannins. Goosecross also sources grapes from the best growing regions for each varietal. The recently renovated estate winery allows winemaker Bill Nancarrow to craft authentic, approachable, food-friendly Napa Valley wines.
